Goal Setting for 2022 – Step 1

It’s that time of year again as we settle back into work and normal life, and we begin to think about the year ahead and what we want to achieve. While people think of New Year’s Eve as the time for Resolutions, it is often not until February when we are ready to start thinking about Goals.
Our quarterly Planning for Success Workshops and one-on-one Professional Development sessions are a great way to work through this process with others by your side. But here’s a starting point to get you thinking in the meantime…
Think Before You Act
Contemplate
Find yourself a quiet moment (preferably in nature or outdoors at least) to think about where you’re at now and where you want to be by the end of this year. Consider what is most important to you. Who do you want to be? What do you want to experience? What do you want to have?
Take Stock
Who are the most important people in your life and do you spend enough time together? On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your happiness right now? What areas of life do you feel like you are doing well, and what areas do you want to improve?
Looking at Now
Track your time for three days and measure how much time you spent on each important area of your life – yourself, your family, friends, work, etc. What areas are missing out? What needs to change?
Look at the last 100 transactions on your online banking and see if your spending is in line with your goals. How could resources, time and money alike, be better spent to bring you closer to your best self?
Write it Down
Next week, we will share an in depth post to help make your goals a reality. If you haven’t started on your goals list, I hope you will find help and inspiration from the ideas shared today.
When should I begin?
